  1. Why do you brush all that stuff right back into the pond as all it will do is clog the pump up again .I pull my pump and clean the outside cage and the inside so the inside is clean .The inlet needs to be cleaned also .I have my pump tied to a rope also but it is hanging  from a pipe so it is not directly on the bottom of the pond .If anything ever happened with the pump on the bottom you could drain your pond .My pump is 2 ft off the bottom and 2 ft down from the top .Takes 5 minutes at the most to switch off my pump and pull it to clean it and I also have 2 pumps .They are on a switched outlet so I only have to switch them off .

  2. Hi Andy. I dont use any extra bacteria. I know it works well but All the "good" bacteria I worry about is in the filter, on the stream bed and on the sides of the pond. Ammonia, nitrite and nitrates are zero so I'm not worried. A koi pond is a very "un natural" pondand hard to keep clear with the fish load. Plus I feed the crap out of them lol, about 1kg a week or hands fulls of food a day. I just do lots of water changes… Thanks for watching.
