I randomly woke up at 6am this morning and was WIDE awake, so I went outside and did a little video tour of our garden spaces. Our perennial gardens in the front, including the rose garden and cottage garden, are waking up from their winter slumber. Our Daffodil bulbs are just about ready to bloom, and I talk about the tulip experiment I’m doing this year. I pruned roses and cleaned up the herbaceous perennials this week and there is lots of new growth everywhere
The cut flower garden is built and a few berry bushes have been planted in the berry walk. In the Potager/Kitchen Garden the root bed is almost fully planted with onion sets, shallots, and carrots. I also have garlic and peas planted.
But the most activity is in the greenhouse. I will be taking out the cold-hardy stuff this week to make room for tender annuals. I’ve sowed lots of seeds for the cut flower garden and lots of vegetables including my peppers and tomatoes. I also have both Dahlia seeds and tubers potted up in the greenhouse.
