Removing the muck is not removing the food. The muck on the bottom is a harbinger of bacteria and fungus and disease. It must be properly maintained.

Great video. I get a lot of diatoms in my pond which makes the rocks inside the pond go brown. How can I get rid of diatoms? I know diatoms are good but they look unsightly.

OR you could just use 1 cup of HARD-WOOD-ASH spread of 1500 sq ft surface, it will take care of most algae.
