I am downsizing my water culture from last year. I hope the changes turn into improvements. This is part 3 of 3.
ESTIMATE OF MATERIALS COST PER REQUEST: I paid $18 per 10ft piece and $5 per cap about a year ago for ASTM D2729. Now, it’s $26 and $8. Since the hurricanes, it’s gone up according to Southern Pipe here in Little Rock. Our Lowes has Charlotte Pipe plastic pipe 6-in x 6-in dia x 10-ft L Schedule 40 Pipe for $33 and it conforms to meet standards: ASTM D 4396, ASTM F 891 and NSF Standard 14. I think NSF standards are food-grade. So, that’s the pricing I see now. Either way, each tube, with 3/4″ internal PVC and fittings, will likely cost you about $50 plust $8 for the control box and a bit more for other materials. I paid less than that, but the overall setup exactly as it is now might cost near $200.

Holly molly…the 10 feet is $40 each. plus tax ..so can i use conduit pipe? I searched marketplace and craigslist but it is none for sale…I like the system because i can elevate it and i do not have to bend over too much and will be easy on my back (back injury no fun)

Looking good! A lot of work to set up. But once it's set up it should be easy to maintain. you've gained a couple feet in height. But now you will also have to bend down more. It looks like a great little set up. Always giving me ideas. I think I'll have a bunch of different set ups for different plants. Going to start my Peppers here in a week or two. Cheers to the new growing season!
