I live in north Missouri. I put all organic waste on my garden and on my compost pile. Last Oct., some of the tomato and squash seeds germinated. I put a few plants of both in pots to take inside for winter. I bought
iPower 54WX2 4 Feet 2-Bulb T5 Fluorescent Grow Light Stand Rack for Seed Starting Plant Growing, 6400K.
I know nothing about grow lights. Seems too complicated for my little brain. Anyway, I noticed that on both tomato and squash plants, the outside edges of the leaves dry out, turn brown, and fall off (especially the squash). They get plenty of rain water I collect. Why do the leaves die? Are the lights too close to the plants. I moved the light higher to about 14 inches above the plants. Are the leaves "burned" by radiation?
I'm just experimenting to see what happens. I read somewhere that squash grows best when the seeds are planted in the ground, rather than starting them inside.
Any suggestions.
so do u plug the timer to the outlet, the balast to the timer and the light to the balaste?
Really happy with this purchase>>>t.co/IsTDm9NHHC . For those who are wondering how much much real time electricity it uses I plugged it into my Kill A Watt meter P3 P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor and it measured 13. 6 Watts and 0. 11 amps while running. This was after I had set up the AeroGarden and had it plugged into the Kill A Watt meter for 5 minutes. I have not run it through the meter for a 24 hours period .

Does anyone else cringe when he touches the bulbs? I guess you could wipe off some of the oils from your skin but why risk it?
This is on a 5 ft length table with about 3ft width.
what do you recommend for carnivorous plants, growing nepenthes, cephs, pings. I have them on a large table in the basement. I am currently using a sunblaster 4ft 7 high output bulbs would like something with a little bit more par and lumens.
lol 1000w covers maximum of 5×5
The drawback to hydroponics is that you must shop for "plant food" or nutrients and supplements that are more costly.
