Hydroponic Gardening and More with Brent
In this video, I demonstrate how I cross two open-pollinated peppers to create a new hybrid pepper. If you were to do the same thing, you will have created a new, unique pepper of your very own. Breeding vegetables is my passion. I have created several of my own varieties. If you want your new pepper to be open-pollinated, you will need to grow out a few plants every year and select the one that you like the most. In the second generation after you save seed, there will be lots of variation, but every generation after that there will be less variation. After 8 generations, your pepper seed will always make the same pepper. I will try and do a follow-up video explaining this.

Thanks Brent excellent demonstration! I'm pretty sure that there are some peppers never lose Style from the bottom of the fruit. I'm pretty sure that's the case with the Trinidad scorpion. So I guess you could say Trinidad scorpion never goes out of style! 😉 As to inter-specific hybrids, Ghost Pepper is a hybrid parentage, Capsicum chinense × frutescens.
Very neat. I know people who make Hot Pepper Sauce do this a lot, to make their own unique kind. I like to grow Peppers, all kinds. They are a lovely plant. Lord help me, I started a Bazillion Flowers in my back window and I have no idea how I can possibly house half of them until planting time! I have lost my mind! This should be interesting! LOL Peace.
