How to Grow Microgreens Using Hydroponic Nutrient & Costs

I use water-soluble nutrient to supplement my micro grows. In this video, I show how much it costs, generally, and how to mix it for an entire grow. Most of the time, 2 gallons or less are all that’s needed. You might be amazed at how little it actually costs. Take a look for yourself.

Hydroponic Gardening & More with Brent

What do you think?

  1. Brent, why half strength Masterblend for micro's? Is it simply to save money or can it harm the young plants. The reason I ask is that I notice many hydroponic growers doing the Kratky method (who also use masterblend at full strength) where the seed starts are also sitting in the same full strength solution with no damage?

  2. Hi, thanks for this informative video, I have a question for you, can we use any other NPK ratio other than 4-18-38, for example, 18-18-10 or 19-19-19 or 12-11-18?

  3. Thanks for all of the information! The nutrient VS water videos had me order nutrients and your book! Holy hell! I want micros like yours 🙂 Great job and good luck with the book my man

  4. I have heard you want to add the epsom salt to water separately since it can react to the calcium nitrate if hydrated together. Just throwin that out there. Really learned a lot from the videos. Ever thought of Buckwheat Brent? I hear its tough to grow in hydro.

  5. I got a 20lb bag about 6 yrs ago for $40, still have enough for this year. with the calcium nitrate and Epsom salt, I think I spent less than $100 for 7 yrs. That's less than $14 a year for all I grow or the cost of about 3 bags of lettuce at the store (or 3 café lattes, lol). I'd say it is inexpensive.

  6. I have had issue with pre measureing the dry ingredients. Once used a lot of it would not dissolve making me think they may have chemically redacted before use

  7. Hey I could use my moms old daily pill container. That way I can do 7 doses at a time and reuse when empty.thanks for another informative video!

  8. We only just got Amazon here in Australia and a lot of it's still expensive unfortunately. In time it should get cheaper,,but it's gonna take a while for sure here in Australia.
You guys are blessed to be able to grow food so cheaply. I hope more people take advantage of the costs and grow more fresh food in the states,,,worth every penny.
    Have an awesome day
