How to Grow Microgreens the IHG Method

#Microgreens #MicrogreensIntenseHydroponicGrows #IHG “Microgreens – Intense Hydroponic Grows” is the name of my book. The style of growing has been referred to as “The IHG Method”, a shortening of the book title “Intense Hydroponic Grows”, first coined by Jeffrey H. in the Facebook Group. I like it! I made this video to answer as many questions as I feel comfortable with and not reveal too much book content. Well, I didn’t even get close to what’s in the book, but you still get a great overall feel for it.

MY BOOK ON MICROGREENS. If you want to know how to grow microgreens like I do, I wrote a book on it, “Microgreens – Intense Hydroponic Grows” aka The IHG Method:

Hydroponic Gardening & More with Brent

What do you think?

  1. I want to preserve this opinion and comment in case it's deleted by the author. His opinion will stay up in the comments below as long as he chooses. I don't take offense because it gives me an opportunity to respond to how some folks feel, and of course how I feel. I'm not doing it to bash. I respect the author's opinion.

"Nothing but an ad for his book. Don't waste your time."

    My response is here only:

Are ads bad? I think the video is much more than an ad, but in general, are ads bad? This video shows people how I grow if they want to emulate my style. I feel like I'm on the leading edge hydroponically. I put an awful lot of work into the book and the video to offer people a choice. There's no trick. If I didn't publish the book and make the video, how would they know and how could they have the free-will choice to buy it or not? IOW, without my book/video, there would be no choice or opportunity for this. That choice is what makes our country great. Every commercial you see on TV is exactly the same thing, an ad. YouTube offers us small-timers an opportunity to compete with the likes of Ford, Coke, Hefty, Heinz, and Kraft. Did you know that over 99% of all videos you watch on YouTube are monetized so essentially every video you watch is an ad for YouTube and the creator to make money. IOW, almost every person (over 1000 subs) is making $$. What they're exchanging is content some find valuable for that money and how much money is based on the appeal to those watching. Choice. Oddly, without the $$, many channels would fade, ideas would die, and inspiration would be lost. The growth of YouTube, and the challenge to compete by small-timers like me, is how we have so much rich video content here to copy and learn from. It's also a valuable freedom of expression. Capitalism is awesome. Take a bite. Your comment is not a secret, but you're also advocating against me, my work, and my channel. YouTube offers me the option to delete your comment making it unknown, but I'm not going to do it because if offers me a chance to reply and I'm a huge believer in freedom of speech. :O) Listen, simply, you don't have to watch my video or buy the book. Choice. Thanks.

  2. You have a website… There is a link in the description ?
Having a hard time finding your website.
Could you please add the web address to this video or put it with the video title or be the first to comment on videos and give the address in the comment.

  3. Love your videos, I bought your digital copy of the book. Any chance you could do a more in depth video about the actual IHG growing method -How you built your setup etc..

  4. Greetings Brent: Firstly, thank you for sharing such informative & intuitive videos on growing Sunflower MicroGreens. Before I venture into my first trial run, I would like to know if anyone here tried to use the Black Oil Sunflower Seeds of the Bird Feed variety which the pet store sells ? And how did this "Bird Feed" variety turn out?

  5. Brent, you do such a great job on your videos. They are so informative. We both have finished your book. Can't wait to get started growing. I know our supplies will be pretty soon. Thank you so much.

  6. I thought the excess leggy produce was undesirable. Is this not bordering on being considered something other than a microgreen? I haven't tried to intentionally make leggy greens, so I haven't tested the taste or nutrient content, but my gut tells me it's almost defeating the point of the microgreen. Do you have any experience or information that indicates the contrary?

  7. Brent, I watched all of your videos on micro greens. I watched them in reverse order from newest to oldest. It is a very serious contrast from when you began, the " Give it a go" to the 3lb harvest. I really enjoyed watching the amazing yields. I will eventually buy your book and do my own. I cannot say thank you enough for all the time, work and effort you took into sharing with us your "how you do method". It is one thing to grow and yet another to do the trials and comparisons on top of videos. I think that the book is just a logical step. I have watched others, i know that i do not have to tell you that your yields are by far, superior! Once i acquire your book i will be building a hydroponic system similar to yours. I hope to sell, so organic food grade is the goal. I currently reside in Mexico so this should be quit the adventure.

I also feel the need to mention that you are the very first i have ever subscribed to EVER!

    Happy growing!

  8. Hey Brent..any chance you have rough idea at how long you can let Masterblend mixed in containers with tight lid for? I generally mix 10 – 15 gallons up at a time, but I go through it fairly quick – 2 weeks.  Had a person ask how long you expect it sit after mixing.  Thanks Brent.

  9. Love your channel, I definitely need to pick up yor book!
You mention cover pads in this video for your non-medium grows, but I can't find them anywhere on your Amazon store? Do you have a link to those? I've been using paper towels, but I'm worried with switching to a no-medium grow I risk pulling seeds out of the screen using them.

  10. Having fun cleaning the roots from the screen and trying to eat several pounds of microgreens before they get funky? I use 3 6×9 trays that I bought at the dollar store, 3 of them fit nicely into the 1020 tray. I place a single layer of paper towel in each 6×9 and put about an inch of sand in each, (there's a wash running through my backyard). Cover them etc, and any mold that shows up I spray hydrogen peroxide. I harvest the greens as I use them and start a new 6×9 every other day or so. When the 6×9 is completely harvested I just the dump the sand with roots into my garden and whatever small sprouts maybe left in the sand can grow into big plants. A lot of my garden is started this way…

  11. Brent, You really have Mastered growing Microgreens Hydroponically! Because of the incredible results that You post time and time again in Your videos I have decided to switch to the IHG method. It just makes sense. The clean, disease free Microgreens that are produced are truly amazing. Excellent work! Thank You so much. Definitely buying Your Book!!

  12. Interesting video Brent. I am going to try some micro green growing on a junior scale (just for two people) using products from a company who sells seeds here in Canada. Your channel is interesting, and I really like watching your videos. I wish you continued success in this endeavour
    Take care
