Hand-Pollinating & Harvesting Squash

Hand-Pollinating & Harvesting Squash

#NoWeedGarden #BreedingVegetables I have made it to my first squash harvest! We can’t wait to have some fixed for dinner tonight! As it turns out, Madison’s Cross, my breeding, is the only one that has squash ready. So, those are what we’re harvesting. While I’m at it, I thought I’d share how simple it is to hand-pollinate squash using what I call “pollinating ghosts”. I hope you enjoy the video!

  1. Great video! I learn something every time, so my squash better watch out. I saw flowers today but didn't notice which type. First thing in the morning, there will be some hanky panky in the squash patch! Not many pollinators here yet either.

  2. Gday Brent ! Everything looks so healthy and amazing 👍. Your a great All Round traditional, hydroponics etc etc gardener .. wow!
    A real inspiration mate.

  3. Those sure were some pretty squash. And good tutorial on how to pollinate them. I wonder why you don't have bees around. We are lucky I guess. We have several species, not including the honey bees. I hope your breeding success continues!

  4. Are you allergic to bees? If not have you ever done anything with beehives? You could "be" Hydroponic Garnening and more with Bees & Brent 😃 I've never seen anyone make a ghost pollinater before, that was so cool. Awesome video Brent thank you for sharing and as always Keep Building👍

  5. I saw those Squash flowers and I just wanted to eat one,,,so yummy to me.
I want to stuff mine and cook them next season
Very cool stuff Brent first time I have seen a video on this.
Nice to see them all pumping like that…so much food coming out of there.
    All the best from Australia
