I never knew that Asian Arowana were illegal in the U.S. 🙁
I live in Australia and we got a species of arowana but what we call it is a saratoga it is an introduced species and a sports fish but your meant to kill them but me being a keen 12 year old fisherman me and my mates we realease them because they are buetiful fish the biggest we have seen is one that we caught that measured to 82cm and again it was realeased like all the others

I love your videos and I have a friend who is quickly becoming very adept at fishtank care. This wouldn't be a viable option for him now, but in a few years? Maybe. My question is, I read online (I know, not the best basis for 'facts'), that it was actually illegal to import this fish to the U.S. I have to assume that is incorrect, as you made a Youtube video about getting one, and aren't currently incarcerated, haha. Could you clear this up for me?

In the United States, it is illegal to own or import any species of the Asian arowana. The Asian arowana was originally Scleropages formosus, but has since been split into several different species — all protected. The species is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.
