The arawana called me an told me he wants some sand and a couple of crayfish to keep him company, hee hee hee.

I like it a lot but for smaller fish the loose fit would end up being an unwanted hiding place. You know Loaches would definitely find their way back there! And they’d love it.

wow he won't eat 3 months after moving omg. my asian arowana eats even before one hour after moving… i trained him to do so when he is young.

hi i was wondering what air pump do you use?
Have you thought about getting some Peacocks as tank mates for the Arowana? Might work. They've got the size and are aggressive enough eaters.
If you want it to stay more flush to the back maybe gluing some strips of steel (probably stainless) verticaly every foot and a half or so to the background and then using some powerful magnets on the back of the outside of the tank. This would make cleaning very simple as you could just remove the magnets and the background would come free.
+The king of DIY, I would suggest a small bit of darker sand on the bottom Or white sand. That way it has a nice contrast to that beautiful Showcase Arowana.

Same as background or slightly darker gravel (would hide air nicely) and are there any tiny "bottom cleaners" he would leave alone?

Love the Aro!!! Some flagtail characin would look amazing in there. and a glosso carpet in an iwagumi style would just be the best tank in history!
