Ivan milkovij has had a similar idea with his 'wild aquarium' series. He actually managed to really make the aquarium blend into its natural surroundings.

I love that you did this! I love the idea of having an aquarium that is from a specific area with all natural sand, rocks, and fish!
There's actually a secret virgin white beach in the Philippines where a fisherman kept his private fish sanctuary, you get to swim with fishes the size of plates (and some are as big as you). Oh yeah and giant groupers with just a net separating the both of you. They're freaky when you see them hovering in the water and staring at you. And that's where I saw the biggest lobsters! Would be glad to take you there if you visit the Phil!

You say that building an aquarium takes no time, but I think you forget to account for your own skill and experience. I would definitely take it slow and carefully the first time, at least.
