  1. Loving that sump first off. I got two suggestions. You may want to think of some sort of auto top off system. And two move the heaters from the return compartment. From all that I have heard that is the only compartment that may run dry.

  2. Sweet Build Joey! I appreciate that your using the sterotypial saltwater gear on a freshwater tank! I have done that for years and love sumps to hide all my equipment (my early planted tanks were IM all in one tanks !) I can't wait to see this baby scaped!

  3. Nice build.. That thing is gonna ge bullet proof =).. Your sump is the shiznit.. Honestly your sump and tank is set up super similar to a reef system. Biological is the way to go in my opinion for longevity.

Word of advice replace that ball valve on your drain line with a gate valve.. The bean animal is self leveling but dialing it in to pure silence is hard with a ball valve. You will be using your dry "emrgency" more than it was designed to be used. One last bit of advice would be double up your water change ball valve.. If your leaving 300+gls of water relying on a single cheap ball valve your really putting a lot of faith in a $10 valve. I personally would use two Tru Union ball valves ( I use Asahi since I can rebuild if needed) and rotate the use so you can change it or have double redundancy if it decides to leak..

Hope you don't get offended with advice/ opinions I just like to share mistakes I've made in my 30 years of experience in the hobby ( pure reef since '99 lol) and hope others take it into consideration ..

  4. While I find your videos both entertaining and informative you're dancing is somewhat distracting and well please forgive my next comment, annoying!
    Please stop dancing!

  5. This is going to be epic. A setup I can only have in my dreams 🙂 Rainbows are nice I like how they shoal and their colours are awesome. Angels would also look amazing in this size tank as they move so gracefully.

  6. hey joey, Im planning on building this tank to house south african cichlids i want to keep them to maturity i have had bad luck in the past with smaller tanks, is it possible to keep green terrors, jags, green texas, red terror* etc for up to10 years in a tank this size without fighting?
