Things you can do: What can you do to get the grid hardened? 1. Work with local emergency providers (and utility companies) to get them to hold drills about what to do when there is a months (years) long nationwide (no support coming from other states as usual) grid down situation. Once they get the gravity of it they will push internally through their organizational levels within the utility companies and local/state officials to do something about it. My keynote speaker at my power-grid defense conference Ambassador Hank Cooper did just that in your area and got Duke Power to agree to harden their grids. 2. Contact you state and federal elected officials and demand they take action to get the grid hardened. 3. Contact your state Public Service Commission and demand they take action to get the grid hardened. 4. Join groups advocating power grid defense. Greg I am just amazed at the vast amount of knowledge you have about so many varieties of things!!! You thing of everything, how the shortest day of the year the rays are going to hit the panels, and making sure they then will also be in alignment with the rows in the back accordingly…, gardening, worms, mathematics,scientific phenomenons, politics,and who knows what else….you just burst with information on everything….you have made my brain wake up and think again more than it has in years!! lol

Mr Green Gregs' if you would be interested in the system I use to heat AND store HOT water for bathing from passive solar rays made from recycled mostly products, let me know. I have made 3 so far. 2nd design seems to heat equally well and much simpler to build. I gave up with the coiled blak polypipe since I could only get hat water in the middle of the day. Thinking of building an aquapontic system utilizing this system also. If I can figure out how to properly orient the recycler.

Great video Greg! Are the panels just to moderate the temp of the water for your fish, or does it have an impact on the greenhouse as a whole? I'd love to see a breakdown of how much heating it provides compared to what you'd get from large tanks of water heating up in summer & slow releasing over the course of the cooler months (not asking much I know!). What do think would have the greater impact on the temp of the greenhouse overall?
Over the course of the coming year I'll be excavating & building a wallipini so I'm really on the lookout for any tricks I can incorporate to get good growing temps all year round. I can't go too high off the ground as I'm on a really windy site – if I went as high as you it'd get shredded in no time!

How much heat are you getting/will get from that array? I have been contemplating constructing my tilapia tanks in-ground for the thermal stability (keeping those fish at 55) .. I know that you don't freeze as often around H-ville as we do out here in T-town, but when it does, it does with a vengeance! I would love to see some temp logs .. external/ambient greenhouse/tank/inflow & exflow to the array, ect. Aquaponics has been on my mind for some time now, and I know that when I do it, I want to build a system with no dependence upon a fuel source that I cannot readily produce with my own hands – so passive heat exchange is very attractive.
