  1. what is needed to be done to get tilapia to breed?? I'm doing every thing I seen on the internet and no fish holding eggs, I got one male and five female in a55 gallon tank, water pH is at 8, temp at 80, all are 6 inches long. the male is doing its dance and chasing the females but nothing yet, any ideas you may have or suggestions??

  2. they did grow up in the tank once they got over 1 I bought 20 Fry in fall, this spring I sexed them when about 4 inches the six stayed in the tank and the rest went in a 300 gallon tote setup with swirl bio filter in the shed. been trying my luck for I did aquaponics in school and had tilapia then two, and my friend got me going with it again for he failed getting his breeder tilapia to breed that he bought over a year ago, for he wanted to use aquaponics to feed his greenhouse but couldn't get the fish to breed.

  3. the fish are blue tilapia, I got them last fall as mixed get from the tilapia store,a place located in Florida, they sell the Fry on eBay. any way I can buy some mixed Fry from you about 20 or 30 Fry and a price.

  5. I was thinking would putting white plastic around the tank help with the fish from being spooked? for the tank is in the living room in my house and they go bonkers when i walk near the tank, they weren't like that till I removed the other fish.

  6. How often do you do water changes? As my blue tilapia grew to about 4-5 " and eating bigger pellets, the water gets really nasty really fast. Would a sponge filter help? I only use an HOB filter for now. Someone told me to do 20% water changes 3-4 times a week. If I had as many tanks and fish as you that would drive me crazy!

  7. Mark I def agree with you, Greg is always free giving, accurate with his info, knowledge and experience. I haven't purchased anything from you yet Greg but I live in Va near Va Beach and wanted to know if it were possible let to talk with you one on one bout your setup.
