Aeroponic Misters Spray Pattern – What's Right? – Part 2

Aeroponic Misters Spray Pattern - What's Right? - Part 2

High-pressure aeroponic misters or spray nozzles are available in many different spray patterns: Full Cone, Hollow Cone, Flat Fan, and Solid Stream.

Many factors need to be considered when selecting the appropriate spray pattern of nozzles:
Spray angle, Flow rate, Orifice size, and Cost.

Pattern Distance:
The mist pattern of a hollow cone nozzle is only coherent over a short distance after which it becomes turbulent and breaks up into a cloud. The coherent mist pattern of a low flow nozzle extends to around 6″ to 12″ (300mm) from the nozzle.

The right spray pattern reduces the likelihood of a clogged nozzle. Also, the right nozzle will produce smaller droplet sizes with less water pressure.

  1. Your style of teaching creates excitement about the subject matter, but somehow at the same time is totally relaxing. I will now call you the High Tech Zen Gardner going forward 🙂

  2. I would like to use aeroponics using a 4 inch pvc pipe, 6 or 7 foot long hanging. What would be my best choice of nozzle to get droplets to the far end. Would a hollow cone be the best choice? I there a certain degree of angle of spray be better than another?

  3. Can I clean the hollow cone nozzle if it gets clogged for growing marijuana. For instance can I have spares replace the clog one and put it in vinegar or some sort of solution or something to clean it and use it later

  4. Dr you are on point with your videos 😉😁 and I will be looking for the calculator and I will have no problems selling them at the drop of a hat and yes I'm still watching your videos.

  5. Great series…thank you for doing this! Do I need a T fitting for the spray nozzles or do install them right into the tubing? I ordered the tefen you recommended…does any 1/4 inch T work since the nozzle is threaded? My nozzles are 1/8 in but tubing is 1/4. Do those need to match?

    Thank you for the help!!
